「可惜我生前沒有認識一個大學生。」自焚致死的青年工人全泰一在日記上這樣寫著。

據說,因為這句話,令許多知識份子內疚得不得了,進而從大學自我下放到工廠、農村,透過與基層一起工作進行組織工作,韓國的工運、農運才有今天的燦爛。

「我要回到這些受欺壓的朋友身邊,你們是我心靈的故鄉。」於是全泰一從工地回到工廠,最後走上自焚之途。
自焚,不過是為了女性要有月經假、注意工人職業健康等等;口號,不過是「我們不是機器」。

可惜黑白片道出的這個悲傷故事的訴求,在彩色的當代世界中,仍是一樣沒有實現。另一位男主角,正在寫全泰一傳的一個當代知識份子,也因為政治異見被追捕中,而在被追捕的陰影裡,道出這個平凡的、貧窮的、孤獨的韓國青年的一生……

委內瑞拉系列簡介

今年三月,委內瑞拉前總統查維斯去世, 香港各大媒體鮮有地提起他的名字。人人都說他反美,反美以外,就只有陌生而矛盾的片言。有人說他是一代獨裁者,但他一次又一次勝出選舉;有人說他打壓言論自由,但他又好像促生了很多民間電台。有人說他行福利主義會拖垮經濟,但他任內十多年人均生產總值升了一倍。

在他任內,貧窮人口中的識字率急升,亦似乎有了 許多社區共識自治的實驗。提起「人民公社」,很多人只認識中共在1950及60年代那些所謂極左路線、空有意識形態口號的「大鑊飯」。可是, 在21世紀的委內瑞拉民眾的十多年努力下,  這些「組織化、集體化、基層化」的社會共同體實驗,卻顯得更有效而實際, 更像真的「人民公社」,為經濟和社區民主找到了實踐的路線。那麼到底,這些人民自主的社會實驗的進行情況如何?一般委內瑞拉老百姓,又如何看待這些政策?

建設中的自治區

如果普選不足以實現民主,那麼,普選以外,民主的實踐還有甚麼呢?過去十多年,委內瑞拉國內出現了數以萬計, 擁有規劃、行政、財政權力的自治社區,試試落實共識民主的生活和生產方式。

hugo chavez, venezuela’s previous president passed away this march. mainstream media seldom mention either him, or venezuela. when he was mentioned, he was described as an “anti-US” icon. other than that, there are only strange and self-conflicting phrases. some says that he was a dictator, but he won elections over and over again; some says he oppressed freedom of press, but under his reign, there was a remarkable flowering of independent community media; some says his welfare state would break the economy, but under his reign, gdp per capita doubled…

literacy rate remarkably increased, and there were numerous social experiments of community autonomy. after more than a decade, these slow experiments obviously attained much more practical social development than those ideological “communes” boasted by the PRC Communist Party in the 1950s and 1960s. well, actually, how are the experiments now? how do ordinary venezuelan pueblo see these policies?

if general election is  not enough for true democracy, so what’s the missing part? in the past decade, numerous communities with political and economical autonomy emerged in venezuela, trying to practise consensus and democratic lives and mode of production.

二十七年前,切爾諾貝爾核電廠發生嚴重核事故,造成莫大災害。事件表面上經已完結,歐洲社會似乎亦回復安全的生活。可是,事實果真如此?《核電爭議》講述一班醫生和科學家在事故發生一帶持續進行研究,揭示官方一直隱瞞事故禍害。另一方面,《犧牲》則追蹤當年救災的前線工人們,親述官方如何竄改工人體內輻射讀數,及工人於救災後遭社會遺棄、成為次等公民的切身遭遇。然而,上述聲音未能改變現有政策之餘,又曾否被大家聽見?

It has been 27 years since Reactor No.4 of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant exploded and caused a great disaster. It seems that the disaster has already come to an end and life in Europe simply goes on as usual. But is that really the case? Not for the scientists and physicians who have been studying and fighting against the harmful effects of the catastrophe in the affected areas. Nuclear Controversies tells their stories, and the cover-ups by the government officials and the international nuclear establishment.

200512月,你當時在做甚麼?廿多齣短,講述05年灣仔,似乎發生過驚天動地的大事,轉瞬又塵埃落幕。當時發生了什麼?

各地的行動者,有種植大米、小米、粟米各種農民、工人,甚麼驅使他們不遠千里來到香港這個「資本主義自由經濟的楷模」?婦女、青年、父母、還有小孩子,各自懷著甚麼原因和心情參與這場運動?主流傳媒大肆報導南韓農民推倒鐵馬,現場是否只是鏡頭所及?民間媒體又是什麼?我們日常在接收甚麼資訊?這些資訊與生活有何關連?這又與國際貿易有甚麼關係?

「反世貿」,究竟是在反對甚麼?

參與過這場抗爭的行動者,帶著三步一跪的尊嚴,胡椒噴霧的灼痛,摧淚彈的窒息,新發現跨境友誼,回到我城的核心,與在地草根同行,抗爭八年。要在2013年的今天,再一次回顧這段抗爭歷史,呼喚社會關注,因為資本全球化的侵犯,步步進迫,已再次壓到我們的家門前。本年的12月,世貿部長級會議,將再一次在亞洲區舉行,我們又將如何回應呢?
what were you doing during december 2005?  something spectacular seems
to have happened then.  but before the dust was settled, the curtain was
drawn.  what actually happened?   twenty-some videos recording wanchai
in 2005.  activists from around the world, farmers planting rice, millet
or corn and workers, what urged them to travel all the way to this
“prototype of capitalist free market economy”?  women, youths, parents
and children, what were their thoughts and feelings participating in
this struggle?  the mass media overwhelmingly reported on how the korean
farmers torn down the barricades.  through their lens, did we learn of
what happened on the streets?  what then were the civic independent
medias?  what information do we receive?  how do these information
connect to our lives?  and what do all these correspond with
international trade?

“anti-WTO”, what are they against, anyway?

bearing the experience of, the pride of three steps a bow, the scorching
pain of the pepper spray, the suffocation of the teargas, the newfound
friends across borders, the activists who participated in this struggle,
returned to the hearts of our city, trekked along with the local
grassroots, and has been struggling for 8 years.  until now in 2013, we
look back and reflect on these her/histories of struggles, and call on
the attention of the civil society, because the assault of the
globalised capital, is once against pressing towards our doors steps.
in december this year, the Ministerial Meeting of the WTO shall once
again be held in asia.  how then should we respond?

2002年3月,法國Accor Hotel的外判清潔女工發起罷工。當中,大部分工友都是來自非洲的黑人婦女,這是她們的人生中首次參與罷工,爭取合理及固定的工作時數和待遇。

歷經近一年的罷工,工友的部分訴求獲得回應,亦有不少問題尚未解決、更有一些新問題在復工一年後陸續浮現…….

此影片除了外判問題外,還涉獵到族群歧視、罷工組織形態、罷工有否「勝利」、基層婦女角色、和福利制度問題等的不同議題。

香港的外判勞工處境、基層婦女生活,又是如何? 我們可如何能從此影片借鏡?


March 2002, Paris. Cleaners doing subcontracted work in Accor hotels go on strike. Most of the strikers are women with West African origins and are fighting for their rights for the first time in their life.

Shot over a 4 year period, the film outlines different struggles where with few resources but a tenacious will, collectively organized individuals disrupt the law of submissiveness prevailing in the world of work, particularly in subcontracted work.

” No one harms you, it’s your own choice to come to work!”  While accompanying the chinese workers who got injured due to working in poor-ventilated chinese factories,  travelled a long way  to come to hong kong to find their boss, but then the boss has travelled to mainland china at the same time, the officers in hong kong met the workers and said the above sentence. Upon hearing it,my jaw dropped, my heart frozen,I couldn’t help thinking: what is “choice”?

A company, registered in hong kong, set up factories in mainland china, if together with unlimited out-sourcing; a worker, injured or even injured to death, whom to chase?

Globalization, China states to be a international big factory, capital travels all around, workers shut inside walled cities, what is “choice”?

Workers produced beautiful diamond, diamond produced blossomed lungs of workers, have you ever imagined, you are like a piece of dust?

Such a piece of dust, in what ways, could retrieve the autonomy of one’s destiny?

因著對寶島的美好憧憬,阿芳飄洋過海到台灣工作,豈料那只是過份美麗的想像。從開懷到憂鬱,由健談至抗拒,我們無法了解移工所經歷、所承受、所背負的,到底能對他們造成多大的影響和損傷。信心被推倒、瓦解,以致難以信任他人,總需要時間重建,可幸有同行者一直在旁扶持。

阿芳的故事,在流動的歷史軌跡中,也許只是萬中之一。在傾斜於官商的政治制度及管理系統下,僅淪為一團血肉模糊的「貨物」。「衣錦還鄉」的夢想破滅,多年辛勞,卻只換來一副疲憊的軀體。而這些傷害,該從何說起?

attracted by the prosperity of the “treasure island”, Ah Fong” travelled
across the ocean to work in taiwan.  and found that is just a fantasied
mirage.  from hopefulness to hopelessness, from outgoing to reserved, we
cannot truly understand what the migrant workers had experienced;
suffered and bore, had inflicted how serious an impact and how much hurt
on them.  when one’s confidence is being broken and destroyed, it will
be difficult to trust the others, recovering will need time.
fortunately, there are people who offered a helping hand all along the
way.

in the flowing her-stories of migration, the story of Ah Fong, is just
one among tens of thousands.  in this political and management system
that leans towards the governments and the businesses, she is just a
commodity of a chunk of human flesh without a face.  the dream of
“returning home with success and prosperity” had been shattered. in
exchange of labouring hard for years, is just a distressed body.  and
all these hurts and pains, how did it all got started?
